The American company GORE was created in USA in 1958.

The company began in 1958, when Bill and Vieve Gore set out to explore opportunities for fluorocarbon polymers, especially polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).

Today, approximately 6,000 associates in 45 locations around the world contribute to efforts.

One of the most interesting product for the printed circuit board industry is the TETRA-ETCH. The PTFE, PFA and FEP resins offer very good anti adhesion properties and a very low surface energy.

only an appropriate surface preparation of those materials allows to glue them on another substrate. The most effective preparation is made using the TETRA-ETCH based on sodium and polyacrylate. This unique formulation allows to blow off fluor atoms from the fluoropolymer surface, changing it's color to brown. The adhesion of this surface layer allows a tear off resistance of approximately 5 N/mm² with epoxy base resins.

The process time is function of the desired preparation, the polymer and the temperature. It can change from few seconds to two minutes.
